Representative McCarthy announced today that grants totaling $13,260 have been awarded to the cultural councils in his district by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC).
The grants will support a variety of cultural activities that benefit local residents. The announcement was made as part of a statewide funding program by the MCC.
“I’m proud to support our towns’ cultural councils and the important service they perform for our communities,” said McCarthy. “Thanks to the hard work of dedicated members, the councils support local artists, offer educational programs for students, and organize concerts for the public. I am very pleased the state is making this investment in our towns.”
The grants were part of MCC’s $7 million statewide investment in the nonprofit cultural sector. MCC’s Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) are the most extensive public cultural funding network in the country, and they support local arts and history, fund school field trips, and sponsor local concerts and exhibitions.
